Multiply by 9s – Case 1

Case 1 – Number of digits is equal to number of 9s. e.g. 7×9, 54×99, 763×999

Step 1 – Subtract 1 from the number and write it down as the first part of the answer
Step 2 – Subtract this above result from the 9s and you get the second part of the answer.
54 x 99 =>
Step 1 = 54 -1 = 53
Step 2 = 99 – 53 = 46
54 x 99 = 5346
